[vins] Etcetera

[vins] Etcetera, wine bar and café on Valencia, just opened and we dropped in twice during the first week. Ambience - busy, having a party, red and warm and Barcelona nightlife like.
Here are the building blocks – a very cool ambience, 150 wines by the bottle, 50 wines by the glass, fresh organic and locally grown ingredients when that fits, design your own tapas, crunchy fresh salads, gorgeous range of cheese and charcuterie boards, bigger bites such as risotto and steak tartare.

Here is what makes a real difference – Alexandra Gertais, the French owner. She has worked in the wine business for 10 years, importer in the USA and exporter in France. The themes for the moment – the featured flight of Rioja from Spain and the round the world flight of Rieslings from France, Slovania and Australia. These Rieslings are all dry, nicely structured and move between citrus fruits and crisp mineral aromas. These Rieslings also go with the crisp, pizza style of flammenküche from Alexandra’s native Alsace. A series of flammenküche are on offer – we stayed with the traditional, just perfect.

So go and enjoy the new wine bar on blossoming Valencia – and this one brings quality ambience, an excellent wine list and restaurant quality food. Making a difference in The Mission.
