Here comes the so anticipated 80th edition of the Stern Grove Festival ...
... that offers free concerts in San Francisco's magnificent Sigmund Stern Grove.
In 1932, the San Francisco Symphony played the first concert in the Grove, a natural amphitheater surrounded by giant eucalyptus, redwood, and fir trees located in Sunset. Mrs. Stern, then President of the San Francisco Recreation Commission, formed the non-profit Stern Grove Festival Association in 1938, stipulating that "all concerts were to be free to the public and designed for everyone's enjoyment". A Bay Area tradition was born!
In keeping with Mrs. Stern's vision, the selection of performers is so diverse in order to let all the music styles express themselves on stage and address all the publics.
Some highlights to organize your week ends... the SF Symphony performance, of course!, on July 9, the SF Ballet one on July 30, Kool and the Gang of course on June 25, The Brazilian Girls on August 20....
