The SFMoma and SFFilm dedicate the 5th season of Modern Cinema to the French director Claire Denis

For the 5th season/edition of Modern Cinema, the SFMoma and SFFilm have decided to present a long series of movies including the great filmography by the French director, Claire Denis.

From February 1st to 18, you will have a choice of more than 20 films presented at the SFMoma with the program Modern Cinema, Claire Denis: Seing is Believing.

Claire Denis is one of the most renowned French directors and scriptwriters. She started her career as assistant director. She worked with Robert Enrico for The Old Gun, the movie with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret, one of the most heartrending movies ever. Afterwards, her collaborations with Wim Wenders and Jim Jarmush have had a major impact on her future career as director and screenwriter.

Vincent Lindon, Valérie Lemercier, Isabelle Huppert, Juliette Binoche, Chiara Mastroianni... are among the main actors and actresses who have been directed by Claire Denis.

Modern Cinema, presented by the SFMoma and SFFilm, is a great opportunity to (re)-discover the rather prolific filmography by Claire Denis since her first movie, Chocolat, in 1988, until recent Let the Sunshine in, with Juliette Binoche, that was part of the selection of the latest Mill Valley Film Festival.

Modern Cinema will also allow you to watch some cult movies such as Paris Texas, Wings of Desire or Down by Law, movies she has been working on as assistant director.

Browse through the movies and make your own program!
