San Francisco Opera Season 2013-2014
Verdi, Wagner, Rossini... here are the highlights of the new season at San Francisco Opera from September to December 2013 and in June and July 2014.
For the bicentennial of Guiseppe Verdi, San Francisco War Memorial Opera House presents this season three masterpieces by the celebrated Italian composer : Falstaff, from October 8 to November 2, Verdi's Requiem (Messa da Requiem), on October 25, and TheTraviata, from June 11 to July 13, 2014.
Other classic productions include :
Méphistophélès by Italian composer Arrigo Boito, after Faust legend. From Sept. 6 to Oct. 2.
The Flying Dutchman, Wagner's masterpiece. From Oct. 22 to Nov.15.
The Barber of Seville by Rossini, from Nov. 13 nov to dec. 1st. A Special 2 hour version of the opera for families is scheduled on Nov 24 and 30.
A new contemporary production will make its world premiere at SF Opera :
Dolores Claiborne after Stephen King's novel From Sept 18 to Oct. 4.

Show Boat from June 1st to July 2, a classic of American Musical Theater.
Madame Butterfly by Puccini from June 15 to July 9, a production by Jun Kaneko, designer of San Francisco Opera's dazzling Magic Flute (2012).
The event Opera in the Ballpark (free simulcast of an opera at ATT Park) wiil take place during the summer 2014.
