In Berkeley, PIXEL by French dance company Käfig: a show where reality and virtuality intertwine

You will fall under the real-virtual spell of Pixel, tthe show by the French dance company Käfig, presented in Berkeley !

Mourad Merzouki is a hip-hop dancer and choreographer. He is also the director of the dance company Käfig (Centre chorégraphique national de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne).

He imagined and conceived Pixel, in collaboration with the French studio Adrien M & Claire B.

In this creation, Mourad Merzouki integrated circus art (he studied circus and martial arts at the beginning of his career) with elements of Brazilian urban dance, Capoeira, hip-hop and modern dance.

11 artsists dancers perform on stage, like the acrobats in a realm of a different kind, with laser and lights effects that make virtuality and reality intertwine.

The outcome concentrates poetry, magic, elegance in a genuinely stunning show.  The kind of show you wish would last way longer.

We are total fans of that kind of outstanding creation. We recently wrote about Alonzo King who explored these territories, mixing his own Art of Ballet with the bright and luminous art of Jim Campbell. PIXEL is programmed in Berkeley on November 16 and 17, 2018. And since, in that case, our words will never be as convincing as images, here is a short video about Pixel.
