Art&Film for Teenagers

Launched in 1993 by Ronald Chase, SF Art&Film for Teenagers is a non-profit offering free programs, like film screenings and exhibitions visits, for teenagers.

On Fridays throughout the school year the Cine/Club offers students free screenings of classic, foreign and art films, followed by group discussions about the film and its director, at either the Randall Museum (199 Museum Way) or the Dolby Screening Room (100 Potrero Av).

To give you an idea, here are a few of the directors whose films are presented: Orson Welles, Bertolucci, Jean-Luc Godard, Ingmar Bergman, Terry Gilliam, Stanley Kubrick, Jean-Pierre Melville... This should arouse the curiosity and interest of our teenagers! The detailed program is on the website.

The other program, Art Saturdays, follows the same principle: students visit art galleries and museum shows, while being encouraged to discuss about art. It is open for free to any student who is interested in attending. Just show up on the terraces outside of Metreon in Yerba Buena Gardens in the center of the downtown art scene.
