10 YEARS OF THE NEW DE YOUNG

The de Young Museum you know has not always been the way it looks now. It just turned 10! For the occasion, let's talk about celebrations, history and share our top 3 for our favorite exhibits within the last few years.

First thing, let's celebrate. The de Young Museum invites you to a special community day on Saturday October 17, 2015 from 10am to 10pm dedicated to art, of course! It's free and open to the public. To check the scheduled events, click here.

By the way, were you here, in San Francisco 10 year ago? We were not... almost there, though! So take a look at the ''history'' page on the de Young website. Let say that the museum was not as... modern as it is now... History of the de Young Museum.

Anniversaries help us move forward... and yet, they trigger nostalgia. We coukd not helpbut thinking of all the great, amazing, outstanding exhibitions we visited there and recommended on LostinSF.

Below is our top 3...

David Hockney of course ! It was like an epiphany...

... Yves Saint Laurent, splendid, Balenciaga, graceful and colorful, Bulgari, delicate, Nureyev, Picasso we were fortunate that the Musée National in Paris closed its doors for a remodeling, Olmec, colossal, Boticelli to Braque, that tought us so much, Turner and its blazing orange, that just left the de Young.

... the Friday Nights  real traditions and institutions to start the week end properly.

... the Bouquets to Art, another tradition. Take a look at our photos of the past events. Art in Bouquets! Check our album.

... Ruth Asawa's aerial sculptures when you walk to the tower. Splendid!
