Cinco de Mayo 2013

San Francisco

Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, 2013

Every year, for the 5th of May, California and other areas of the United States with large Mexican-American populations celebrate Mexican culture and heritage.

If the date "Cinco de Mayo" commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla, it was chosen in the 60's to honor the richness of Mexican culture. Since then, Cinco de Mayo's celebrations have increased in popularity. Its traditions include street festivals, parades, mariachi music performances, Mexican food and drink tastings... in cities and towns across the United States.
